Can anyone explain to me the advantage of downloading from the AGS Store vs. Steam? Are there any specific playability/compatibility advantages or is it just a matter of convenience and support for the Polycade developers and community? I apologize in advance if this has already been covered, but I was unable to locate answers via a forum search. Thanks!

Many of the games available on our store are not available on Steam. For the titles that are on both platforms, there are a few differences and advantages of purchasing via Polycade:

  1. Any games you own via Polycade will show up whenever you log into any Polycade software, including our arcade machines in bars, co-working spaces, or your friends house.
  2. The Polycade version often has some modifications to make it more arcade-friendly. For example, our version of Tricky Towers has a 2 player mode for 2 player machines (only shows 2 players on screen) and 4 player mode for 4 player machines (shows all 4 players).
  3. For games that have a high score, the Polycade version will soon integrate with our leaderboards (this is in development).
  4. We are also working on deeper platform integrations with developers, so you will see the titles in our library update over time with these added features as they become available.
  5. As you mentioned, purchasing via the Polycade store supports our community and project as a whole, enabling us to continue adding new functionality, features, and licensing games that are otherwise unavailable!
