Will polyface load steam games stored on an external hard drive that is plugged in through the usb?

I can play games saved on the external with the polycade controls if I start them through steam, but they don’t show up in polyface. How do I get polyface to recognize these games?

Thanks

Currently, Polyface doesn't support games on secondary devices - however we are working on adding this functionality! We should see it incorporated in the next 1-2 months.

@Ozonshak @alonsomyers I believe this was interesting to you as well:

We figured out a temporary work around to get Steam games from an secondary hard drive to show up in the Polycade software. We haven't tested this much at all, so let us know if you run into issues.

When the polycade software looks for Steam games, it searches for .acf files in this directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps

If you copy the acf files from your secondary hard drive into the above folder, then you should see your Steam games appear in the Polycade software.

Here's an example of acf files on a secondary hard drive (yours might be located in a different directory or drive letter):
acf files on secondary hard drive

Here's where the acf files that you find on your secondary drive should be copied to:
Target directory for your acf files

Yep, that worked. Thank you!!

Nice! Glad to hear it!!

@admin Sorry, for the delay in responding. I tried this today and, unfortunately, it did not work. My software did manage to update itself to the new UI (been a while since I last used it). I tried copying a couple of specific ACF files from my D drive to the location specified above on the C drive. However, Polyface still does not see those games. I even tried restarting the UI as well as restarting the computer. Any idea why this would work for "kjb7777" and not me?

Ozonshak are you sure you're looking for the right games for the specific acf files you copied? Maybe try copying all of your acf files over to avoid this variable. Also, in the bottom left corner of your game selection screen you should see version "0.9.51" or higher. Can you confirm this?

Also, this solution is a hack - we are solving this problem in a better way, so worst case it will just be a little wait.

admin yes, i was moving the right files for the correct games. It is not too big of a deal. If you have a fix coming, I’ll just wait for it. Looking forward to the official release! Thanks!
