If you add an arcade game (MAME rom) that has not yet been configured, it might boot up with some strange error-looking screens, and once you're in you won't have any credits.
When any arcade game launches, the software looks for a "save state" file in save slot 1. If that exists, it will load the game from that save file. By using this feature, you can solve the above problem and have the game always start with credits. Note that this will also wipe high scores, but we'll be recording those separately very soon.
Follow these instructions to fix this:
- Launch the game
- Wait for the game to fully boot
- Load it up with coins. (Press the "option" button to add coins)
- On your keyboard, press LEFT SHIFT + F7. You will be prompted to enter a save position
- On your keyboard, press 1
Now your game will start in that exact spot every time it boots.
You can also use this feature to save your game, useful for long games like Ninja Turtles. You can use any number 0 - 9 as a save slot. Slot 1 is special in that the game will always launch from that save spot.
